It’s already come and gone, the holiday of Love. Valentine’s Day is one of my least favorite holidays because I don’t think we need a special day dedicated to showing love and affection to those who matter. Instead of doing something extravagant, we always try to focus on each other and spending time together. This shouldn’t be limited to one day a year, so here are some fun date ideas for the other 364 days of the year.
Date Night In

This is probably our favorite because we are definitely home bodies. My favorite date night in is cooking dinner together and then watching a Redbox movie or browsing Netflix for a new movie or show to start.
This is actually what we did for Valentine’s day, and we made one of my favorite dinners, chicken marsala. Cooking together is a great way to have fun, talk about your day and create a masterpiece you can both enjoy. Add in some side dishes and a bottle of your favorite wine, and it’s the perfect fine dining experience all from the comfort of your kitchen. All followed by some snuggles on the couch with a great movie or show. If nothing new has sparked our interest on Netflix, we will often grab a Redbox movie before we get home.
Date Night Out

Sure you can stick with the traditional dinner and a movie, but one of my favorite dates we have been on recently was at the local pottery painting studio Color Me Mine. We both love to dive into our creative side after spending so much time thinking about work throughout the week.
They will often let you bring your own beverages in to enjoy while you paint. We have gone before at night after dinner and brought a bottle of wine, and most recently we went in the early afternoon and stopped at our favorite coffee shop. You can spend as much time talking or diving into your art as you want. We always love bouncing creative ideas off of each other, and you end up with something that will always remind you of that date!
Get Outdoors

One of the best things about living in Colorado is the unlimited number of outdoor activities you can do. One of my favorites is when we take the day off of work and go snowboarding. It gets so crowded at the resorts on the weekend, we always try to take a weekday off and make a day out of “playing hooky.”
If you don’t ski or snowboard, we also love to go for a drive into the mountains or a hike on some of our favorite trails. If we are going to just do a hike or drive, we will also try to get some brunch at one of our favorite places.
Get Away
We don’t get away often, but when we do it’s almost like a mini vacation or just a nice refresh. Even if it’s only for one night, we love to escape to somewhere else and just relax. We use multiple sites to find the best deal on a hotel and we often try to find pet friendly hotels so we can bring Jax along. Then we will pack up, hop in the car and head off on our adventure.

Our favorite places to go are up in the mountains because the views are breathtaking and it’s a nice escape from the everyday busy life. While we are away, we will often walk around the shops in town, get some fudge, go on a quick walk somewhere or just relax and grab dinner. It’s so refreshing and romantic to do a spontaneous getaway, and those are some of my favorite memories.

Another fun getaway is a quick road trip! Depending on where you live, there are a lot of great options for a long weekend! Riding in the car with snacks, music and time for conversation is always a great way to have one on one time. Plus, it’s an added bonus if you can visit somewhere you’ve never been before!
