Wedding Skin

As I’m sure you know by now, I’m getting married in a week! I normally don’t get too bad of breakouts, except for hormonal ones. However, stress is a big trigger for my skin, so I’ve been extra careful to try and make sure my skin is at its best in our special day.

Life Lessons

Please excuse this photo from 2008, but Facebook was a new thing so I don’t have a lot to go off of!πŸ˜‚

Now that we’ve seen 2008 Courtney in all her glory, let’s talk about the word glowing. As someone who suffered from oily skin as a teen, I hid at all costs from anything with the word “glow” in it. Looking back there is so much I would tell myself to stop doing! Give you face moisture, don’t pick at EVERY blemish (I still need that reminder). Put away the frosted eyeshadow, Maybeline dream matte mouse foundation and blend out that line of demarcation…or in my case, my way too light foundation (anyone from the early 2000’s knows exactly what I’m taking about).

My Everyday

I love makeup and probably own way more than I should. But, if you know me at all you would know I barely wear makeup on a regular basis. I only use the products pictured above, and sometimes blush or a lip color.

As I’ve gotten older, I have learned to embrace my more natural self. I can scratch my face and rub my eyes without smearing makeup everywhere. The only drawback is when my skin is less than ideal. That’s why I’ve been more adamant about my skincare.

Something Old

Everyone has their favorites that they have been using for years. I’ve tried plenty of other things over the years, but I keep going back to my favorite staples! My favorite exfoliating mask is the Peter Thomas Roth one that literally removes the dead skin in front of your eyes. After I exfoliate I always make sure to hydrate my face. My favorite things to use are this Vitamin C Serum and Lancome Moisturizer. To avoid fine lines and wrinkles I really like this StriVectin cream, and my number one blemish killer is this Drying Lotion. I am not even exaggerating when I say that it can zap a pimple overnight!

Something New

I’ve been using the Rodan and Fields Reverse Deep Exfoliating face wash for a little over a month. I was nervous my skin would be too sensitive at first, but after the second week I really started to notice a difference. I have tan skin, so I tend to suffer from hyperpigmentation. This has really helped even out my skin tone as well as make my sling look fresh and glowy!

They also have different regimens for different skin types! You can take a quick quiz to find out what regimen is best for you. Or you can check out their Essentials line of every day goodies from makeup remover to sunscreen.

Something Borrowed

Now, I know you should never “borrow” makeup and skincare for sanitary reasons. However, to stick with the wedding theme I’m going to consider some of my favorite free or sample sized items as “borrowed.”

The first is the Cackle Spackle from Perfectly Posh. I am obsessed with masks, especially charcoal ones. This one detoxes and decongests pores for clearer looking skin as well as soothes skin with tea tree for a more even skin tone. I also love their Never Grow Up Serum. Now that I am all about hydration, this was super fun to use! It is supposed to help brighten and tighten the look of skin while fighting free radicals that cause fine lines and wrinkles.

Something Blue

It’s nothing new but I’ve been using my favorite Neutrogena makeup remover since high school! I also really love the Sea Breeze toner. A lot of people skip the toner step, but I personally think it’s extremely important. You would be amazed at the amount of dirt and makeup is left on your face after washing it!

Last but not least my Aquaphor Lip Repair. Living in Colorado means extremely dry weather. My lips get extremely chapped and dry, especially if I use liquid lipstick. This little tube is my secret weapon. I have one in my work bag, one in my purse, one in the night stand and Derrick has one. It’s safe to say it goes everywhere with me!
