Fun Fact: I used to HATE Mexican food as a kid.😳 Now, I can’t get enough!🌮
La Mariposa Restaurant & Margarita House – 1240 Ken Pratt Blvd #5a in Longmont, CO
La Mariposa has the classic Mexico feel. They bring out chips and delicious salsa for you to snack on while you decide what to eat.
They offer a Happy Hour (Monday – Friday from 3 – 6 pm) where you can get delicious guacamole and some drink deals that can’t be beat!
Their Dinner Menu portions are usually large, and can easily be split. I love the Nachos Supreme with Chicken and the Fajita Burrito Supreme with Chicken. Derrick almost always gets the Chimichangas or Fajita Burrito Supreme with Steak. Or if you are looking for something really filling, the La Mariposa Burrotote (which I ordered for myself one night) is basically a giant fried burrito. They also offer their Famous 20″ burritos! Of course, you have to end with the Fried Ice Cream or Churros.
Tahona – 1035 Pearl Street in Boulder, CO.
Tahona is on the West end of Pearl Street and is a popular Mexican restaurant as well as a hip late night dance venue on weekend nights!
They also offer amazing Tacos and other entrees on their Dinner Menu. They also have a ton of Tequila and specialty drinks that make for a great place to socialize. If you are looking for Tacos, be sure to check out Taco Tuesday where they have $2.50 Select Tacos all night every Tuesday!
If you stay late enough, you can also enjoy a fun night of music and dancing with their DJ Dance Nights. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday they have DJ’s who spin music from 10pm – Close.
CYCLHOPS Bike Cantina – 600 S Airport Rd in Longmont, CO.
Oskar Blues’ original, cycling-inspired hangout that would complement the bike culture of Longmont and the Colorado Front Range. They not only serve tacos, tequila and craft beer, but it’s also the official retail home for the Oskar Blues in-house bike brand, REEB Cycles.
CYCLHOPS is probably our absolute favorite place to get Tacos. Fun Fact: It’s where Derrick and I had our first date!
They have a fantastic Happy Hour (Daily 3-6pm) with delicious Guac, a Salsa Flight and the best part, Tacos for $2.50! They also have fantastic drink specials.
If you are in the mood to Brunch, then this place is one you don’t want to miss! They offer Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s every Sat and Sun 9am-2pm, or their standard brunch menu daily.
CYCLHOPS offers a wide variety on their Menu, but we can never pass on the Tacos! My favorite are the Chicken Tinga, Barbacoa Beef and the Carne Asada. Derrick loves the same ones as well as the Al Pastor (I’m not a huge fan of pork). They also have delicious Fajitas and Paella!
They offer Daily specials every day of the week! Just check their Menu.
Red Agave – 2845 28th St in Boulder, CO.
They also offer Brunch, available Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 2:30pm where they serve Bottomless Mimosas.
Red Agave Tequileria + Kitchen + Calaca Bar is a more modern and casual fine dining experience. Servers perform table side food presentations, from fresh guac to queso flameado (cheese flame). Most of their food is gluten free, and the chefs are always willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. Red Agave also features over 300 different bottles of tequila.
We have been here quite a few times, but twice we had the luxury of using $50 gift cards. This allow us to try a lot of delicious menu options.
Unlike most Mexican restaurants, they do not automatically serve chips and salsa. You have to order it from the menu for an additional cost, but it is worth it. We also love the Ceviche and have gotten it every time we have come in.
Derrick’s favorite for dinner is the Burrito De Carne Asada. We both like the Fajitas, Derick prefers the the Fajitas Grilled Sirloin Steak and I love the Fajitas Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast. My favorite thing to order is the Steak Salad.
For dessert, we love the Fried Ice Cream and Derrick has even gotten the Key Lime Pie to go. Plus, you have endless amounts of Tequila and Margaritas to taste.
